Big Wong XL, Nehru Place, New Delhi
A visit to Big Wong chain of restaurants is always a nice experience. Good food and service. This chain also servers food which does not have too much of local influence. So we decided to play it safe by choosing this place as our first tryout in Epicuria Food Mall. While the food mall per se was an overall disappointment, Big Wong XL Nehru Place made us enjoy our day.
Location of Big Wong XL Nehru Place
Big Wong XL has its own exclusive entrance. It is located right at the main part of the mall. But it is facing the wrong side. It is just next to the escalator system.
About Big Wong XL Nehru Place
Located within the premises of Epicuria Food Mall means it is mostly full of people and they are there to eat food. Oh sorry eat and drink. When I say people, yes they are lots and lots of people. Most of the restaurants are full, sometimes even on week days. In this food mall, even during off hours people might not get their choice of seating. Same goes with Big Wong XL. Seating is just sufficient. Paid parking is available all over the place. Basement, parking outside and parking on the main road too. Parking costs are reasonable. But it would be been much better had the food mall catered for sufficient parking for all. After all this is one of its kind place in Delhi and Delhi being the food lovers destination, so the crowds.
Seating and lighting is good. Standard Big Wong fare. Service is also good. Price point of view, yes this will be slightly expensive. But it is full bang for the bucks. This place also has a bar, so enjoy your drinks with good food.
The menu and food
Big Wong XL Nehru Place has Chinese, Thai and Sushi on the menu. The menu is clearly divided into Soups, Starters, Dimsum, Sushi, main course and at the end rice and noodles. There is an equal balance of vegetarian, chicken, fish and mutton items. Some familiar items like fried rice and some familiar missing like chicken manchurian. We have never tried sushi, so cannot comment on that. But otherwise rest all items which we have eaten either here or any other outlet, all are good. So you can go for some new food experience at this place. We stuck to our usual chinese items. the chilli chicken specially was very good. This was followed by dimsum. Plus the usual clear soup and fried rice. Food portions should easily suffice two people.
