Comesum, Connaught Place, New Delhi

About 10 years back when I visited Comesum, Pune Rly Station, I was zapped. At this time, it was a revolution in food and service at extended timings. Their food was/is much better than most restaurants in Pune! So naturally it is kinda sad to review Comesum at Rajeev Chowk Metro Station which at the time of writing this review has been rated at 1.8 out of 5 on Zomato.

Location of Comesum

One of the best available in Delhi. Inside Rajeev Chowk Metro Station premises. At a place where there is the max foot fall of metro passengers in the most busiest metro station in Delhi. There are three radial outlines moving out from a rough central point on each side of Rajeev Chowk metro station. Comesum is located on one such radial.

About the restaurant

Design of the restaurant chain has always been a quick service kind of outlet which serves food in no time. Some dishes will be prepared live, but most of them are pre made. This procedure ensure fast service which is a boon to passengers. The perfect settings for diving in and having a quick bite and getaway. Parcel is another option to enjoy your meal in the train. But not possible in Delhi Metro. Eatables not allowed.

But what Comesum here is done is taken a wonderful opportunity and turned over its head. There is no specific search feature on Zomato, but by far this is one of the most lowest rated restaurant on Zomato. And counting by the sheer number of people who visit this place, it is indeed a paradox. Right from the word go, as we entered the place, there come a host of problems in sight. Overall ambience is dull, despite the bright lights. Cleanliness is an issue here. I did not find an issue with service. But lots of complaining customers in just half an hour which we were seated inside.

About the food

We tried just one dish, Garlic Bread with toppings which was strictly OK. But there is a history of complaints by Zomato reviewers about the quality of food. The staff does attend to complaints and provides a replacement. Most of the customers whom we looked around did not enjoy the food much. There is simply no reason to understand whats the problem were there is naturally a rush of customers. A few reviewers have also pointed the fact that the menu is expensive here. Since most of the items are quick bite ones, but still two slices of Garlic Bread with one topping was Rs 100. But this place is slightly expensive.

With just slight adjustments to food, this place can easily jump a couple of notches higher.

  1. I suspect people need something ready and fast. I know here in the US many only have a short time for lunch. I also suspect that some people eat so fast they don’t spend a lot of time tasting. Those that do may not take the time to complain in such a way that the proprietor knows what exactly needs to be adjusted. Then again, with a throng of people coming in and ordering on a regular basis, the proprietor may not stop to think there’s a real problem. The only way is to stop buying. When the pocketbook is empty, there’s more time to think why.
