Jung Bahadur Kachori Wala, Chandni Chowk, New Delhi

Kachori, the JB style. Thats the mantra for this place. Note the two red chilies in the logo. Pretty much defines what you are going to eat. And remember, ask your kachoris to be crushed before it is immersed in the curry. Jung Bahadur Kachori Wala is all about his signature kachoris.

Location of Jung Bahadur Kachori Wala

Gali Parathe Wali starts from the main Chandni Chowk Road and continues right in till a Y junction splits the street in two streets branching away from each other, both curiously named as Kinari Bazar Road. To reach this place you have to take the street on the right and walk a few steps till you suddenly reach upon this very small outlet. So small that you can miss it easily. But it is properly marked on Google Maps, and remember it is there.

The best way to reach Chandni Chowk is by the Delhi Metro. Once you emerge out of the underground station, you land right in front of the beginning of Gali Parathe Wali. If you plan to reach there by a four wheeler, the vehicle parking area is either in front of the Red Fort or right on Chandni Chowk Road, if you dare.

About the place and its food

Menu is pretty simple and straight forward. Either one piece or two pieces. Eaten in a paper cup like plate and on the street itself. You might have to wait your turn since this is a very busy market place. There are also people around who take parcels of kachoris by the dozen. There is just enough space for a person to sit and serve. And a huge frying pan where the kachoris are deep fried to a crisp brown.

You have to pretty much balance yourself on the street and eat the stuff. There is almost no place with customers crowded in front of the shop and shoppers milling around in hordes. You might occasionally have a two wheeler blaring his horn out literally accusing you of encroaching upon the road.

lots of publicity

Anyway about the kachoris, they are hot and crisp and hardly any oil on it. The curry on the other hand is spicy, I mean, very very spicy. So be careful with it. There are a lot of reviewers complaining about the spiciness, but remember it is his signature dish. Taste is good and prices is pretty cool. A nice full snacks at the street food price.
