Kuremal Mohan Lal Kulfi Wale

With this review of Kuremal Mohan Lal Kulfi Wale, finishes the coverage of the twin kulfi shops in Old Delhi. Last time we had visited the less popular among the two, Kuremal Mahavir Prasad Kulfi Wale. Frankly speaking between the two, at a cursory glance there appears nothing different, but as you dig in, you start to realize why this one is more popular.

Location of Kuremal Mohan Lal Kulfi Wale

As mentioned earlier, this place too has been incorrectly marked on Google Maps. Also in Google search this place shows as Kuremal Mohanlal Kulfiwale as an auto correct. Silly google bot is still not able to go fully local. But in the narrow lane, this one is the first shop as you enter from the Sitaram Bazar Road. Again the best way to reach there is the Delhi Metro where you get down at Chawri Bazar and then walk down on the Sitaram Bazar Road. Another good option is to take the cycle rickshaw or the e Rickshaw. This way you can soak in the sights and sounds of the busy streets. Fares are also reasonable and you can reach this place from Chandni Chowk or Red Fort.

The Menu

Well simple, Kulfis all the way. Here is the list.

Kulfis and their flavors.

Now incase you are still wondering, here is the deal. You have the basic rabri kulfis and then there are the other flavors at the bottom which are non milk or lesser rabri. Those are pure fruit tastes and the middle one is the famous stuffed kulfi, where the seeds are removed and the kulfi mixture is poured in the cavity and covered with a lid and sealed with atta or dough and frozen. To serve the stuffed kulfi, the lid is removed and the skin peeled off and what remains is a perfect fusion of fruit and ice cream.

Other points.

The person behind the counter is an old timer and knows his job well. He will also help you with the flavors and answer your odd questions with pride. I have still now been able to single out which is the best one out of two, but I might drop the debate altogether, as I did enjoy both the places. Instead of the bamboo stick, there is a wooden spoon here.
