About Pyara Chicken Corner
L Block, DDA Market is a city block with the standard two storey structure seen in Block markets in Delhi. There is no uniformity in what shops should constitute the block markets. Sometimes we find just a couple of restaurants like the Janakpuri D block market. The common point is that most places are having one or more wine and beer shops. Customers buying spirits sometimes start consuming right in front of the shops. So that becomes an ugly proposition for families. Plus the local authorities are usually not upcoming with hygiene and sanitation. Clubbed this with the waste generated by the shops, we have a scene and smell right in our hands.
L Block DDA Market is no different. There is a wine and beer shop. Also there is general lack of hygiene. At one end of the block market we have the food giant Sethi’s Restaurant and Barbeque. This side of the block is full of families enjoying their meal. Pyara Chicken Corner is at the other end of the block. This place only offers outdoor seating. Pyara Chicken Corner has been designed ground up as a delivery only restaurant. They did eventually moved on to outdoor evening seating and even car delivery. Having food in the car is a little ambitious since the service is bound to be slow. Week days there will not be too much crowds. Week ends, it will be packed with families.
About the food
Typical Delhi-Punjabi cuisine. Three pages of menu. Most items on the menu are delivery menu. But there is no separate menu for that. For most chicken items, you will find the taste good. Chicken is tender and moist. But the same cannot be said about the mutton dishes. Be careful on that. Food takes time to prepare. That was during non rush hours. So you can imagine the scene during week ends. Portions are good. Taste is nice, esp for chicken items. Prices are attractive. For some of the dishes you might notice pricing on the higher side. But for those the portions will be huge. We ordered for half a portion of chilly chicken. That was more than enough for two people. This place is typical old style delivery cum eating outlet for good and tasty Delhi food.
